About YIES PTO

YIES PTO Mission Statement

To strengthen, enhance, and encourage the educational environment at Ypsilanti International Elementary School, with a key goal of establishing and reinforcing the communication between the student families, teachers, and community.

In 2016, Ypsilanti Community Schools (YCS) launched a new International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), the Ypsilanti International Elementary School (YIES), in what was formally known as Adams STEMAcademy. That same year, an energetic group of parents and community members came together to form the YIES PTO. We had an amazing first two years and helped raise vital money and funding for our children.

The PTO organizes bake sales, a Scholastic Book Fair, popcorn Fridays, dine to donate and teacher recognition events. The PTO also helps with the school field day, as well as the annual school walk-a-thon. Our largest project is our annual Blooming YIES Dinner and Silent Auction, which raised over $20,000 to renovate the school library and teacher workroom.

In 2017, our PTO became a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It is an exciting time at YIES and we will continue to provide enriching and high quality opportunities for our Ypsilanti public school children and community.
